Harry Cassar Competing Judo

australia's competition scene

The Australian competitive judo scene is vibrant and steadily growing, offering opportunities for athletes of all levels - from grassroots beginners to elite international competitors. Local clubs across the country regularly participate in regional tournaments that foster development and community engagement. These events provide a welcoming environment for juniors, cadets, seniors, and masters to test their skills, build confidence, and gain valuable experience on the mat.

At the higher levels, Judo Australia oversees state and national championships, which serve as important stepping stones for athletes aiming to represent Australia on the international stage. The country is home to a dedicated group of high-performance judoka who compete in Oceania Championships, Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and Olympic Games. With strong pathways in place and a supportive judo community, Australian judo continues to grow in both depth and profile, encouraging athletes of all ages to push their limits and achieve their goals.

At Peninsula Judo Club, we’re proud to have Coach Harry Cassar, a Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, leading our program. With experience competing at the highest levels, Harry knows exactly what it takes to succeed - and more importantly, how to guide others through that journey. Whether you're preparing for your first local comp or dreaming of the world stage, you're being coached by someone who has been there, done it, and is ready to help you do the same.
